Intsallation Notes for Windscreen #36097

Installation Notes for Windscreen #36097
Alfa Romeo Spider
Parts List:
1 - Wind Deflector
2 - Brackets
2 - Flat washers
2 - Adjustment knobs
1 - Instruction sheet
Installing the brackets:
  1. Move convertible top to the "down" position.
  2. Locate the two 15mm bolts that hold the top frame to the body.
Note: there is a third nut (10mm) that supports the bracket. Make sure this nut is snug (do not over tighten) to prevent the top hinge from moving out of adjustment. See figure 1.
  3. Loosen and remove the two 15mm bolts.
  4. Raise the convertible top halfway.
  5. Locate the correct bracket. The L-shaped ear with two holes points upward and the rest of the arm sweeps toward the rear of the car. The driver’s side is shown in figure 2.
  6. Insert the bracket under both braces of the top frame. See figure 3.
  7. Work the bracket into position so you can replace the top bolt. Do not tighten it completely yet.
  8. Push the top frame down gently against the bracket. This will bend the drop tray. IMPORTANT: do not cut the drip tray or bend it more than necessary to re-attach the bolts. See figure 4.
  9. The lower 15mm bolt may now be replaced and tightened. See figure 5.
  10. Tighten the top 15 mm bolt. See figure 6.
  11. Repeat for the other side.
Installing the Deflector
  1. The screen material is closer to one side of the frame that the other. It may be installed with either side facing the front of the car.
  2. Insert the threaded posts through the hole in each bracket one at a time. Put a washer on the threaded post followed by the adjustment knob. Repeat for the other side.
  3. Place the screen in the upright position and tighten the adjustment knobs just enough to hold the screen upright. (Be careful not to over tighten).
  4. Drive and enjoy!
Notes:
  1. The seats will go all the way back but will not recline all the way.
  2. The screen may be left installed with the top up or down. You may also remove and replace it easily by removing the knobs and washers (leave the brackets in place).
  3. Be careful not to lay heavy objects against the screen. This may stretch the screen material. Slight stretches will come out in the heat of the sun.
