Cleaning the Rust Trap in an Alfa Romeo GTV6

The GTV6 is much more rust-resistant than the Alfetta GT upon which it was based. That said, there are still a few weak spots to watch for.
One of the best pieces of advice we can give (having learned the hard way) is to keep drbris from building up in the rust trap.
Remove the splash panel behind the front fender by drilling out the pop rivets. Clean out the accumulated mud, sand, leaves, etc., then replace the panel with sheet metal screws so you can clean behind it periodically.
Also, check the hoses that drain the sunroof into this cavity. They should be kept free of debris, too.
