1. Disconnect and remove battery (if in the engine compartment) and radiator overflow
bottle.
2. Remove the eight exhaust manifold nuts. Use International Auto Parts manifold
wrench (Item #4200) to reach buried manifold nuts.
3. Separate the front exhaust pipe from the center muffler. Disconnect the front pipe from
the transmission mount. Lower the front pipe and manifold under the car. Disconnect
the manifold section from the front pipe. Remove the manifold and the front pipe.
4. Clean the eight exhaust manifold studs on the head with a degreaser, such as brake
clean. Install both sections of the header together on the studs. Use new exhaust
manifold to cylinder head gaskets, making sure that the flats on the gaskets are down.
Clean the eight nuts. Replace any damaged brass nuts with our Item #25025. Use
new washers and tighten nuts.
5. Install the Y pipe section as supplied under the car. Clamp or weld the twin pipe end.
Install your oxygen sensor probe if originally equipped. To connect the Y pipe to the
center exhaust, measure the distance between the end of the Y pipe to the center
exhaust. Cut a section off your old front pipe (A) to fit. Since the diameter of your pipe
at (B) may vary, this connection should be welded or clamped. If necessary, a sleeve
can be fitted.
6. Make sure all nuts and connections are tight.Notes: The use of any type of header wrap or heat tape will void the warranty. USA Note: IAP's headers do not have a provision for a catalytic converter, and are not legal for sale or use on pollution-controlled motor vehicles. |
