Alfa Spider Exhaust Manifold Cracks

The intricate casting of Alfa Romeo exhaust manifolds is beautiful, but keep an eye on yours for cracks. These often develop on the rear branch (cylinder number 4), and can cause poor running—and possibly even a burned valve. It's best to replace a cracked manifold early.

To help avoid the problem, always use new gaskets and tighten evenly. Also, be sure your engine mounts are in good shape.
