If your Alfa Romeo experiences a sudden loss of oil pressure, dropping from its normal range by 20psi or more--and there's no mechanical knocking or clattering from the engine, your crankshaft may have lost one of its six aluminum oil galley plugs. It's safe to drive a short distance, slowly, as long as the oil pressure doesn't get near zero. Then, you or your mechanic will need to remove the oil pan and drive in a new plug. The old one lying in the bottom of your oil pan will make a nice souvenir.- Mark Lee |
